The Cowham Ranch is an 88 acre piece of property that Bob Cowham and family purchased in 2006, after years of searching for the perfect country retreat and family ranch. When purchased, the land was almost entirely wooded with no water, electricity, buildings, or fence. After years of hard work and the help of many friends, the land slowly transformed from a dream to a reality. As a thank you to those who helped in this transformation, a party was thrown to show appreciation for all the back breaking work. As more and more projects were completed and the number of people who helped out grew, so did the parties. “Weekend in the Country” which is now the first weekend in March has now become an annual event, which many would say has gotten out of hand.
 
With that being said, the wonderful people who continue to attend every year have always been the most respectful, polite, considerate, friendly, caring, and fun loving people in the world. To continue the tradition there are now a few work weekends in the beginning of the year followed by the large party in March to say thank you. The party now consists of multiple bands, events, 4 wheeling, and good old family friendly country fun. Party goers from all over which mainly consist of friends and family of the Cowham’s have now become friends with each other and continue to return not only for the good time had by all, but also for the reunion of new Weekend in the Country friends that takes place every year in the beautiful hills of east Texas.
